Skydivers collide in midair, killing one

One skydiver has died in California after colliding in midair with another skydiver.

One skydiver is dead and another injured after the two collided in midair in northern California, according to media reports.

The accident occurred on Tuesday at the Parachute Centre in Acampo about 66 kilometres south of Sacramento, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

One skydiver landed only suffering minor leg injuries while the body of the second skydiver was found nearby, Deputy Les Garcia of the San Joaquin Sheriff's Department told the paper.

The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident.
