Skydiving granny, 102, sets world record

An Adelaide centenarian grandmother has entered the record books as the world's oldest skydiver.

An Adelaide woman has become the world's oldest skydiver, taking the plunge at the age of 102.

Irene O'Shea jumped into the record books on Sunday two years after she also skydived to mark her 100th birthday.

SA Skydiving has congratulated the great-grandmother on her achievement after she jumped in tandem with instructor Jed Smith.

"An incredible woman, achieving incredible things," the company said.

Ms O'Shea's son-in-law Mike FitzHenry said there was no talking her out of Sunday's jump.

"No, not with Irene O'Shea, you don't try and talk her out of anything," Mr FitzHenry told radio FIVEaa.

"She decides what is going to be and you go with it."

Ms O'Shea's jump was also designed to raise funds for research into motor neurone disease with a gofundme page set up to take donations.

By Monday the site had raised a modest $255 of its $10,000 goal.
