The family of three-year-old Gurshan Singh plan to fly back to India to have him cremated, after he was found dead in Melbourne last week.
Gurshan's mother, Harpreet Kaur Channa, has told SBS' Punjabi language radio programme of her anguish. Manpreet Singh, the presenter of the programme, says Gurshan's family does not blame Australia at all for the tragedy.
A police investigation is continuing into the circumstances around Gurshan's death.
Gursewak Dhillon, an Indian national aged 23, appeared briefly in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on one charge of manslaughter by criminal negligence.

Police allege Dhillon, who shared the home with Gurshan's parents and others, placed the boy unconscious but alive in the boot of his car, drove around for at least three hours and then dumped him at Oaklands Junction without checking to see if he was dead or alive.
Gurshan's body was found in grass by the side of a road about 7pm on Thursday, some 20km from his family's home in Lalor.
Dhillon, a part-time taxi driver and housemate of the toddler's parents, will appear again in court on June 29.
