Opinion polls suggest it could be a landslide loss for the Liberals, but a small crowd of the party faithful gathered early to show their support for Premier Colin Barnett.

Among the supporters to arrive in time to watch the spectacular sunset at the Cottesloe Golf Club was the premier's son Sam, who has made headlines recently for his own controversies.

Politicians in attendance included Norman Moore and Bill Marmion.

Long-time Liberal volunteer Barbara Evans said she hoped the election result would be closer than the polls suggested.

The 83-year-old wife of former politician Max Evans spent two hours manning a booth on Saturday morning.

"I've got Liberal blood in my veins," she said.
