Luckless Geelong midfielder Billie Smedts has suffered another big setback to his AFL career, this time breaking a leg in the VFL.
Smedts broke his fibula on Sunday in a heavy collision and it is unclear how long he will be out of action.
Cats football manager Steve Hocking said a decision was yet to be made on Smedt's treatment, but they expect him to make a full recovery.
Smedts returned to the AFL in round 10 for the first time this season, but was left out of Saturday's win over GWS as the Cats recalled Daniel Menzel and Lincoln McCarthy.
He has only managed 38 senior games since his 2012 debut.

Smedts is the second Cats onballer in as many weeks to suffer a serious injury.
Last week, the Cats announced George Horlin-Smith would be out of action for six to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury at training.
But generally the Cats are having a good run with injury.
Ruck-forward Mitch Clark made a successful return in the same VFL match where Smedts was injured.
Clark, who has not played at any level this year, kicked three goals as he rotated through attack and the ruck.
The Cats are hopeful that Clark will push for a senior recall after their round-15 bye.
Midfielder Sam Menegola returned through the VFL as well on Sunday after injuring a knee during the pre-season.
West Coast recruit Scott Selwood is yet to play this year as he recovers from an ankle injury.
