Australian skipper Steve Smith has cast doubt over whether Brisbane is the right place to stage a day-night Test match.

The Gabba will play host to a pink ball Test between Australia and Pakistan in December, but Smith said he was not convinced it would be a success like the inaugural day-night Test at Adelaide Oval last year.

"I think it's just a little bit different with the ball and the humidity that quite often is around in Brisbane. It could be very difficult for the batters, particularly if there's grass that's got to be left on the wicket," Smith said on Monday.
