Smith extends deal as Britain's Davis Cup

After leading Britain to the 2015 Davis Cup title, Leon Smith has signed a new contract as captain through 2018.

Leon Smith has signed a new contract as Britain's Davis Cup captain through 2018 after leading the country to its first title in the team event in 79 years.

Britain's Lawn Tennis Association made the announcement on Wednesday.

Smith was appointed as captain in April 2010, guiding Britain to victory in 13 of their last 15 ties in the Davis Cup.

Britain beat Belgium in the 2015 final and began their title defence at the weekend with a win over Japan.

Smith says "our Davis Cup journey has captured the imagination of so many people across the country and I'm looking forward to using our Davis Cup successes as a way to get more kids playing tennis".
