Smith hits captain's century in Perth Test

Steve Smith has posted his first second-innings Test century, handling New Zealand's attack with ease in Perth.

Steve Smith has registered his first Test century since being appointed Australia's full-time captain.

Smith reached three figures late on Monday's fourth day of the second Test against New Zealand.

The 26-year-old captained the Test side in three games last summer, scoring a ton on every occasion.

However, Smith was leading the side in a caretaker capacity at the time due to Michael Clarke's hamstring injury.

It is the first time Smith has posted a century in the second innings of a Test.
