Snapshot for day four of the second Test

A snapshot for day four of the second Test between Australia and South Africa at Bellerive Oval.

AUSTRALIA vs SOUTH AFRICA: DAY FOUR

* Result: South Africa win by an innings and 80 runs.

* Score: Australia 85 and 161. South Africa 326.

* Man of the moment: Kyle Abbott. The South African paceman - only called up because of an injury to spearhead Dale Steyn in Perth - decimated Australia's batting line-up, finishing with 6-77 from 23.1 overs. It's not the right-armer's best Test figures, but enough to earn the 29-year-old man-of-the-match honours.

* Key moment: Usman Khawaja's dismissal for 64. If Australia were to be any chance of salvaging something from the Test, they needed a big stand from Khawaja and Steve Smith. The Australian No.3 added just eight to his overnight score, but failed to show the discipline required as he flayed at a wide ball to be caught behind, his dismissal triggering a collapse of 8-32.

* Stat of the day: 8-32. Australia's sad demise on day four took just 116 balls and included single-figures from six batsmen.

* Summary: Australia entered day four at 2-121 having to stand their ground on the Bellerive pitch, but couldn't even hold on until lunch as they were humiliated for just 161. It left the hosts facing the prospect of their first-ever series whitewash on home soil.

* Comment of the day: "Stick with us, we are doing our best," captain Steve Smith's message to Australian cricket fans after play.
