Result: Australia 29-15 Argentina

What it means: Australia will play in their fourth World Cup final, and first against defending champions New Zealand. It's the toughest challenge in World Rugby but one coach Michael Cheika will be relishing. He'll have doubts over fullback Israel Folau, who left the field late in the match after appearing to aggravate an ankle injury.

Key moment: Drew Mitchell's brilliant, winding run with seven minutes remaining set up the third try for Adam Ashley-Cooper - it extended Australia's lead to two converted tries with time running out.

Wallabies' best: Scott Fardy was immense, topping the tackle count with 16 - including some essential efforts to shut down Argentina's attacking raids - and also effecting two turnovers. David Pocock was also dominant but Fardy, the unsung hero of Australia's back-row, was physical and intimidating.

Quote of the day: "We've given ourselves the opportunity to play in a World Cup final and we'll work out how we're going to do it against a pretty dynamic team," Michael Cheika discusses the prospect of how to stop the defending champions New Zealand.
