Snedeker embarrassed by Aust PGA display

Brandt Snedeker says he will go back to the drawing board after his disastrous display at the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast.

Top drawcard Brandt Snedeker has promised to come back to Australia and redeem himself after crashing out of the Australian PGA Championship in spectacular style.

The 34-year-old American said he was embarrassed by missing the cut despite an improved performance on day two at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.

The only way was up for Snedeker following his diabolical opening-round 12-over-par 84 - one of the worst rounds he'd hit as a professional.

The seven-time US PGA Tour winner still failed to card a birdie in his second-round three-over 75, even though conditions had improved dramatically compared to the gale-force winds and rain he faced early on Thursday morning.

Snedeker didn't mince his words, saying good scores were "gettable" and admitting he fluffed his best chances.

"I definitely feel embarrassed about my play the last two days," Snedeker said.

"I'm going to need to come back down here and redeem myself.

"I appreciate all the fans came out; I feel like they deserved better and my game was not up to it obviously, but I'll be back down again and can show them a better brand of golf, golf I'm more used to playing and accustomed to playing."

Snedeker said he failed to come to grips with the greens at Royal Pines, half of which were brand new after extensive remodelling work on the back nine.

"I didn't make a putt over five feet in two days," he said.

"I feel like today actually, I had a chance of shooting a decent score and just missed every putt possible.

"I go back home and try to figure something out.

"It's not the start of the season I wanted at all, so obviously (I will) go back to the drawing board a little bit and figure things out."

Fellow American Peter Uihlein, who was drawn in the same group, showed Snedeker how it was done with five under, one of Friday's best scores.
