Snowden contemplates US return

The former National Security Agency contractor, Edward Snowden, has expressed interest in leaving Russia to return to the United States.

Mr Snowden secured asylum in Russia and faces espionage charges from US authorities after he passed on classified files to journalists.

The former IT contractor says he feels vindicated, given the leaks have prompted a global reaction and a strong political debate in the US.

Washington correspondent John Stempin has told Michael Kenny Mr Snowden has been seriously considering what legal options he could pursue if he returned home.
