A second person has been charged with dangerous driving after the car crash that killed the sister of Socceroos player Awer Mabil.

Bor Mabil, 19, died when the car she was in crashed into a fence in the northern Adelaide suburb of Andrews Farm at 12.30am on Saturday while Awer was playing in the Asian Cup in the UAE.

The 19-year-old man driving the car was charged with dangerous driving causing death and driving while disqualified.

Police will allege a second car, a green Toyota Avalon, was "travelling in company" with the Audi when the car crashed.

The driver, an 18-year-old woman from Gawler West, was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Both will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Mabil was unaware of his sister's death during Australia's Asian Cup quarter-final 1-0 loss to UAE early on Saturday morning.

Members of the Mabil family spoke briefly to reporters in Adelaide.

"We, as family and friends of Bor Mabil, we grieve at this time," Bor's cousin Manyok Ajak Mabil said.

"Bor was a great daughter and young woman with a great life ahead of her."

Football Federal Australia released a statement late on Saturday morning, requesting the media respect the family's privacy.

"FFA extends its deepest sympathies to Awer, the Mabil family, and Bor's friends, at this difficult time," the statement said.

"FFA is providing support to Awer, his teammates, and Socceroos staff in the United Arab Emirates."

Isaac and Tace Shearing told the Adelaide Advertiser that CCTV cameras caught two cars driving alongside their house.

"I was in bed sleeping then we were awoken by a loud bang," Mr Shearing said.

"My wife and I we went out and we saw the crash and the house in pieces. It was shocking."

Three other passengers received minor injuries when the Audi crashed.

Mabil has scored four goals in seven matches for Australia since debuting against Kuwait in October, including two strikes in the Asian Cup.

His parents fled from Sudan in 1994 and he grew up in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to Australia.
