Socceroos to play Germany in friendly

The Socceroos will get a chance to extract a measure of revenge against Germany when they play the World Cup semi-finalists in Monchengladbach on March 29.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the German federation announced the international friendly on Thursday.

Australia was humbled 4-0 by the Germans in their opening World Cup match in South Africa, the heavy loss a major factor in ensuring the Socceroos did not progress past the group stages of the tournament.

Australia's next friendly is against World Cup quarter-finalists Paraguay, at the Sydney Football Stadium on October 9.
