Some schools in at risk areas will remain closed as NSW firefighters battle to ensure communities are safe from bush fires.
All schools in the Blue Mountains were closed on Wednesday due to extreme fire conditions and ongoing blazes.
More than 20 public and private schools in fire-affected areas will remain closed for another day on Thursday.
The majority of the closures are in the Blue Mountains, but there will also be school closures in the Hawkesbury area and one in Penrith.
The Katoomba and Wentworth Falls TAFE campuses will also be closed.

Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said the plan was to open as many schools as possible.
"We do want people to realise that for large areas the fire threat has eased," he said.
"We are only planning to close schools in the areas considered most at risk."
HSC students are able to sit their exams at any high school.
However, students unable to get to their exams due to the fires can lodge illness or misadventure applications with the NSW Board of Studies.
NSW Sport and Recreation says the Hill Top Shooting Centre will also be closed until Monday, October 28.
