Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says there could be tax changes in the May budget, but any major reforms will be taken to the next federal election.
Mr Turnbull said federal taxes already were a high percentage of GDP and the government did not want to increase that level of taxation.
"We will certainly be taking decisions in the lead-up to the budget and obviously if we have major tax reforms we will take them to the next election," he told 3AW radio on Tuesday.
