The festival has a mix of free and paid events spanning the five days, including live performances, art installations, documentaries, markets and, of course, food stalls.
The highlight of the event is a free outdoor concert by Bollywood legend, Kailash Kher.
British-Indian musician Nitin Sawhney will also be performing. He will be composing a live orchestral score for 1929 silent movie, A Throw of Dice.
Last June race riots exploded in Harris Park, a neighbouring suburb to Parramatta, and organisers of Parramasala say the initiative may help break down cultural barriers.
