A tourist arrested for becoming violent because he couldn't do yoga on a US plane is being allowed to return home to South Korea.
US Magistrate Judge Kevin Chang had previously allowed Hyongtae Pae to be released, but prevented him from leaving Hawaii.
But on Monday Chang modified conditions of Pae's release to allow him to return home. This comes after Pae's defence lawyer requested that Pae return to the Honolulu Federal Detention Center because he couldn't afford to keep staying in Honolulu and to get more medication.
Pae promises that he will return for his sentencing, scheduled for July. He pleaded guilty last week to interfering with a flight crew and is expected to be sentenced to about 12 days' time served. He must also pay $US43,600 ($A56,525) restitution to United Airlines.
