Australia have cruised to a women's World Twenty20 warm-up win in Chennai but Elyse Villani says it's wrong to call her side tournament favourites.

Villani top-scored with 51 against West Indies, while captain Meg Lanning finished 49 not out in the Southern Stars' 43-run triumph.

Villani was happy with the result but rejected the tag of World T20 favourites.

"I don't know if there is one flat-out favourite. I wouldn't sort of say Australia is the favourite," the opener said.

"I find that pretty interesting. I think there's at least four teams that are pretty equal.

"It's just going to be a matter of who is most consistent throughout the tournament.'

Australia are seeking a fourth straight women's T20 title and start their campaign in Nagpur on Friday against South Africa.

The Southern Stars' total of 3-139 always looked like being too much in Chennai, where West Indies were rolled for 96 after 19 overs.

Right-armer Rene Farrell and legspinner Kristen Beams both claimed three wickets each, while keeper Alyssa Healy completed two stumpings and grabbed a catch.
