Southern Stars hammer Sri Lanka

The Southern Stars have eased to a nine-wicket ODI win against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The Southern Stars have continued their unbeaten run against Sri Lanka with a nine-wicket ODI win against in Colombo.

Requiring just 103 runs to secure victory, Australian openers Elyse Villani (48*) and Nicole Bolton (35) did the bulk of the scoring and with the help of captain Meg Lanning (9) to seal victory with 22.3 overs remaining.

Australia's spin bowlers lead the way in one of their most convincing performances of the tour to restrict Sri Lanka to 102.

The home side made a strong start with the bat, attacking early as they reached 50 with both openers still at the crease.

However, the introduction of spin halted almost all momentum for Sri Lanka as Jess Jonassen (3-1), Kristen Beams (2-20) and Grace Harris (1-23) tore through the middle order.
