Souths shut down any George Burgess switch

South Sydney say George Burgess will remain at the NRL club for the 2019 season, despite reports linking him to Parramatta.

South Sydney won't release George Burgess to head to Parramatta, with the Rabbitohs insisting the English prop will stay at the club for the final year of his deal.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Burgess was being pursued by Parramatta on a two-year deal from 2020, with the possibility of him heading west a season early.

"George Burgess is contracted to the South Sydney Rabbitohs until the end of the 2019 season and will be playing for the (Souths) throughout the 2019 season," the club said in a statement.
