Dylan Walker and Aaron Gray have been moved out of intensive care and into a private ward as their conditions continue to improve.
The health of the South Sydney duo has improved considerably since being taken to hospital early on Tuesday morning after overdosing on prescription medicine.
However, the NRL players still have to pass a number of tests before they will be released from St Vincent's hospital in Sydney.
In his first comments on the incident, Souths coach Michael Maguire said the health of both Walker and Gray was getting better.
"All of our efforts and thoughts at the moment are with Dylan, Aaron and their families," Maguire said in a statement released by the Rabbitohs.
"I've made a few visits to see the boys over the past few days and it's really reinforced the significance of family, and how important their parents are to them in their lives.
"I've spoken to their teammates and they have all offered their support to the Walker and Gray families during what is a difficult time for them.
"We look forward to the continued improvement in their health."
Both the police and the NRL Integrity Unit are investigating the incident.
Chief executive John Lee said Souths would "debrief" media on what had occurred soon.
"The families of both players have thanked everyone who has offered their well wishes and support over the past few days," Lee said.
"They have also thanked the media for the respect and privacy that has been shown to them and the boys.
"There will be an appropriate time to debrief on what has happened in this situation, but at the moment our focus remains on the wellbeing of the young men."
