Special Olympics comes to Adelaide in 2018

Adelaide will host Australia's 11th Special Olympics in 2018.

More than 1000 athletes with an intellectual disability will descend on Adelaide in 2018 for the national Special Olympics.

The city has been named as the next host for the event, which will determine Australia's team for the Special Olympics World Summer Games in 2019.

Basketball, football, athletics and sailing are among the 12 sports in which athletes will compete in April 2018.
