Posted to the Woolworths Facebook page by Sydney woman Zoe Perry, the six-second video shows a huntsman spider inside the bag of Italian salad she claimed she bought from a Woolworths supermarket.
In the 18 hours since postage, the clip has been viewed 3.9 million times and received 45,000 likes and 67,000 shares.
In the post, Ms Perry said she came across the spider while "shopping as per usual for Italian Style Salad Mix."
This comes a day after the supermarket chain recalled their salad mix - as part of a national product recall after 30 cases of salmonella were linked to pre-packed lettuce sold at Victorian supermarkets.
"Is this what's actually behind the "salmonella" callbacks?" she added.
She closes the post, from "an arachnophobic family".
Woolworths replied to the video through a comment which read: "We're very concerned about this Zoe, and take incidents like this very seriously. Please let us know your phone number and state in a Private Message.... so that we can follow this up with you ASAP. Thanks."
