CRICKET - South Africa have beaten Australia in a pulsating game three of their one-day international series in Durban to claim an unassailable 3-0 lead. Centuries by Steve Smith and opener David Warner saw the tourists post 6-371, but the Proteas chased down the massive target thanks to a David Miller hundred with four wickets and four balls remaining.

TENNIS - Bernard Tomic has been thrashed in the opening round of the Beijing Open, going down to Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets 6-3 6-1.

RUGBY - Halfback Aaron Smith is heading home from the All Blacks' tour of South Africa after he was suspended for an airport toilet incident. He was stood down after details emerged of the incident, which took place in Christchurch last month.

GOLF - Tiger Woods, who plans to make his PGA Tour return next week after more than a year on the sidelines, has been appointed as one of three vice-captains to US skipper Steve Stricker for next year's Presidents Cup in New Jersey.

SOCCER - Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has been issued with a notice of complaint by the Scottish Football Association after being accused of betting on football matches.

MMA - The Moscow-backed leader of the Russian region of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is facing criticism after his sons took part in televised mixed martial arts fights involving children as young as eight.
