RUGBY LEAGUE - Coach Trent Robinson has launched a scathing assessment of the NRL's bunker after Sydney Roosters' 24-20 loss to Canterbury on Thursday night. Robinson was highly critical of a controversial call to award a try to NSW back-rower Josh Jackson in the 56th minute that put the Bulldogs ahead for the first time in the game.

RUGBY SEVENS - Jarryd Hayne has returned to Australia in a bid to cure a niggling hip injury that potentially jeopardises his prospects of making the Fijian Olympic sevens rugby team. The former Parramatta NRL star and San Francisco 49ers NFL player arrived back in Sydney from Fiji on Thursday evening, on the same flight as Radradra.

OLYMPICS - Australia's Olympic team boss Kitty Chiller has refused to back away from the country's bold medal target after Jason Day, Sally Pearson and Michael Diamond all became unavailable for the Rio games within three days.

TENNIS - Bernard Tomic apologised for saying he felt "like a retard" after moving into the third round at Wimbledon with a four-set win over Radu Albot. Samantha Stosur has endured a second-round exit after going down in straight sets to German Sabine Lisicki.

AFL - West Coast will put their top-four credentials to the test when they face off against fellow finals contenders North Melbourne next week after they got the job done with a 78-point win over Essendon.
