OLYMPICS - The World Anti-Doping Authority has issued a damning report on state-controlled doping in Russia which benefited athletes at summer and winter Olympics over at least a four-year period. Its findings are expected to strengthen calls for all Russian athletes to be banned from competing at the Rio Games.

OLYMPICS - Russian President Vladimir Putin says officials accused in a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) report of enabling widespread abuse of performance-enhancing drugs will be suspended for the duration of an investigation.

CYCLING - World champion Peter Sagan claimed his third 2016 Tour de France stage victory when he pipped Alexander Kristoff on the line at the end of the 209-km 16th stage from Moirans-en-Montagne. Chris Froome retained the yellow jersey.

OLYMPICS - Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has pulled out of next week's Rogers Cup in Toronto as he prepares the defence of his Olympic singles title at the Rio Games.

CRICKET - Stephen O'Keefe has taken an impressive 5-43 in Australia's tour match in Colombo. The visitors dismissed the Sri Lanka Cricket Board XI for 229 at tea on the opening day of their three-day match at P Sara Stadium.

SOCCER - Former Newcastle Jets goalkeeper Mark Birighitti has signed for English Premier League side Swansea City after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

BASKETBALL - Australia's newest NBA stars Ben Simmons and Thon Maker have been named as two of the All-NBA Summer League's best players after a strong display in Las Vegas.

CRICKET - Leg-spinner Yasir Shah became the first Pakistani bowler in 20 years to top the International Cricket Council Test rankings after his heroics in the Lord's Test victory against England.
