OLYMPICS - Sport's highest tribunal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has rejected Russia's appeal against a doping ban for its Rio Olympics athletics team, drawing swift and angry condemnation from Moscow.

CYCLING - Chris Froome has won a mountain time trial to extend his overall lead at the Tour de France in the 18th stage, finishing 21 seconds ahead of Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin over the 17-kilometre route from Sallanches to the Megeve.

BOXING - New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker has beaten Australian Solomon Haumono by knockout thanks to a powerful upper-cut midway through the fourth round. Haumono has launched a protest, disputing a ruling by the referee that he hadn't made it back to his feet following a 10-count.
