Spray-on skin tech firm expands in Asia

Avita Medical is expanding its spray-on skin technology into Malaysia with a new distribution deal

ASX-listed "spray on skin" wound repair firm Avita Medical has expanded its Asian market, signing a deal to have its products distributed in Malaysia.

Avita has reached an agreement with Mintcare, a specialist in distributing wound care products throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Mintcare will initially focus on marketing Avita's regenerative medical devices for burns, wounds and skin conditions.

Avita's "ReCell" technology is based on harvesting viable cells from a patient's own skin and spraying them onto an affected area to stimulate healing.

Avita has recently announced distribution deals with parties in China, Japan and South Korea.

"The deal with Mintcare will give Avita Medical an active presence to deliver our innovative treatments to Malaysia, a market of 30 million people, and further underscores the significance of the broader Asian healthcare market for our company," Avita chief executive Adam Kelliher said on Tuesday.

Avita shares were 0.5 cents higher at 11.5 cents at 1151 AEST.
