Australian champion Anna Meares will be unleashed on the London velodrome where she had one of her greatest triumphs to open Australia's assault on the track cycling world championships.
Meares, who returns to the scene of her Olympic triumph where she defeated home favourite Victoria Pendleton, will pair with rising star Steph Morton in the team sprint on the opening day of competition on Wednesday, with four gold medals on offer to Australia riders.
The pair beat out fellow Commonwealth Games gold medal winner Kaarle McCulloch to the two-person team.
McCulloch and Meares claimed gold in 2009, 2010 and 2011, while McCulloch now likely to focus her attention on the 500m time trial on Friday (Saturday AEDT).
Also racing on Wednesday will be the men's sprint team, with Nathan Hart, Matthew Glaetzer and young gun Patrick Constable aiming to spring an upset and cracking the podium.

But Australia's National Performance Director Kevin Tabotta says the success of the event will not be determined by their final medal tally - which read four gold, four silver and three bronze in Paris 12 months ago.
"There's certainly not a medal target that we are placing here," he told AAP.
"It's all about looking at our times and saying 'what are the times that we should be delivering here' that indicate we are progressing.
"It's about the process leading up to this competition and delivering on expectations."
In addition to the team sprints, Australia will also be chasing gold in the women's individual pursuit, where Rebecca Wiasak is the defending champion, while Glenn O'Shea will be looking to for a podium finish in the men's scratch race.
Meanwhile, Alex Porter, Samuel Welsford, Michael Hepburn and Miles Scotson have been named to team up in qualifying for the men's team pursuit earlier on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Australia will look to continue their dominance of the keirin event - with Meares, Morton and McCulloch all chances to feature on the podium, with the men's team pursuit final taking place in the evening.
