Spurs post club's most wins in NBA season

The San Antonio Spurs have set a franchise record with their 64th victory of the NBA season, beating the Toronto Raptors 102-95.

Patty Mills' San Antonio Spurs sent a message to Andrew Bogut's Golden State Warriors as they posted a franchise-record 64th victory of the NBA season.

Australian point guard Mills played his usual quality bench role, scoring seven points and supplying four assists in 21 minutes while his big name teammates posted the big numbers in a 102-95 win over the Toronto Raptors which ensured they topped their 63-win season in 2005-06.

Kawhi Leonard had a career-high 33 points and LaMarcus Aldrige had 31 points and 15 rebounds as Spurs also extended their NBA-record home winning streak to start the season to 39 games.

They now have 48 straight home victories dating back to March, 2015.

The win came a day after Mills' countryman Bogut and Golden State had their prized home game winning streak dating back to January 31, 2015 ended at 54 when upset 109-106 by the Boston Celtics.

The defending champion Warriors (68-8) and the Spurs (64-12), both in the Western Conference, have easily the two best records in the NBA this season heading toward the finals starting in two weeks.

Emotions ran high early in the final quarter in San Antonio when Toronto's Patrick Patterson set a high and hard screen that sent Mills reeling backward in front of the Spurs' bench.

Gregg Popovich screamed for a foul, which led Patterson to scream and flail an arm at the San Antonio coach.

Mills got revenge on the other end, draining a three-pointer for an 80-70 lead after initially missing a three-pointer that David West tipped back to him.

The Spurs have trailed for only 11 minutes, 13 seconds of the 456 minutes played in the fourth quarter at home this season.

And the only teams to have held a lead in the fourth quarter in San Antonio this season are the Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Meanwhile, Detroit beat Chicago 94-90, Indiana beat Philadelphia 115-102 and Sacramento downed Denver 115-106.
