Sri Lanka's boisterous fans have made their cricketers feel they are playing in Colombo ... only the temperature is a lot colder.

Security staff at Kardinia Park formed a cordon so the Australian and Sri Lankan players could board their buses after Sunday night's match without being mobbed.

A rowdy, joyous group of fans sang, chanted and played musical instruments for more than an hour outside the players' entrance.

The Sri Lankan fans were also a massive presence for Friday night's opening match at the MCG.

If they didn't outnumber Australian supporters on Friday, it certainly looked and sounded like they did.

They were also stood out among Sunday night's crowd of 13,500, for the first full international cricket match played in Geelong

"At the MCG, we didn't feel like we were playing in Australia," said Sri Lanka batsman Dilshan Munaweera.

"We were just feeling like we were playing in Colombo, only the climate was a little bit hard on us.

"Apart from that, we felt like it was Sri Lanka."

As Munaweera and man-of-the-match Asela Gunaratne spoke to media after Sunday's match, Sri Lankan supporters could be heard celebrating on the street outside.

"It was like playing at home away from home," Gunaratne said of their fans.

"The support that the Sri Lankans brought was a great strength and made it a little easier."
