Stanlake in line for Bulls debut

Queensland have made two changes to their Sheffield Shield squad to face South Australia at the Gabba, starting Saturday.

Billy Stanlake is in line to become the 497th first class player to represent Queensland after being named in the Bulls' 12-man squad for the Sheffield Shield clash against South Australia at the Gabba, starting Saturday.

Stanlake, 21, took seven wickets at 25.42 in four one-day cup matches in October, and previously represented Australia at the under-19 World Cup in 2014.

The Gold Coast junior has been called into the squad alongside James Hopes in place of quick Peter George and Michael Nesser, who was 12th man against Tasmania last week.

"Billy has had a few weeks to get some good bowling under his belt since the one-dayers and it is a good opportunity to bring him in alongside James Hopes," Queensland selector Justin Sternes said.

"Pete was a little tight in the hamstring, which is the one he injured in the pre-season, and so the selectors felt it best to give him more time to recover.

"While Michael will have the chance to play some Premier cricket on the weekend and keep mounting a case for future selection."

Qld: Chris Hartley (capt), Ben Cutting, Jason Floros, James Hopes, Sam Heazlett, Scott Henry, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Reardon, Matthew Renshaw, Billy Stanlake, Mark Steketee, Jack Wildermuth.
