Team Sky's Ian Stannard has claimed a stunning solo victory in stage seven of the Tour of Britain on Saturday.
Stannard battled clear of German Nils Politt in the final phase of the 215 kilometre ride from West Bridgford to Mansfield, recording his second career stage win at the event, adding to his stage-three victory back in 2016.
"It was always pretty close with Politt, seven or eight seconds or so, and it was getting tough," Stannard, who eventually won the stage by 59 seconds, said.
"Luckily there were a few little kicks towards the end so I managed to put a bit more into the gap..
"When I got into the break today I was pretty confident - I looked at the other guys, how they were riding all day and I knew that I had the edge," said the 31-year-old.

Quick-Step Floors rider Julian Alaphilippe retained his overall lead, and is the favourite to defend his green jersey over Sunday's ceremonial final stage in London.
The Frenchman is 17 seconds clear of Team Sky's Wout Poels after finishing safely within the peloton.
