Stars down Scorchers in WBBL form reversal

Melbourne Stars have gained revenge on the Perth Scorchers with a three-wicket WBBL win Melbourne.

Melbourne Stars have rebounded in style to knock over WBBL heavyweights Perth Scorchers with a three-wicket victory.

Skipper Kristen Beams led the way with the ball to help restrict the Scorchers to just 7-90 off their allotted 20 overs at Casey Fields in Melbourne on Sunday.

In reply, the Stars also found run-scoring challenging but reached 6-91 to secure victory with 4.3 overs remaining.

It was a marked turnaround for the Stars who had lost two on the trot, including a hefty eight-wicket loss against the same opponents just 24 hours earlier.

Elyse Villani (5) and Heather Graham (0) both failed with the bat after success on Saturday, with only Nicole Bolton (36) reaching double figures among the Scorchers' top-order.

Beams ran through the middle-order with her wrist spin, collecting 3-13 as the visitors struggled for momentum under heavy cloud.

In reply, Stars' opener Lizelle Lee hit a rapid-fire 26 off 19 balls to build a strong platform.

Player of the match Katie Mack contributed 33 off 31 balls as the Stars coasted home despite a late flurry of wickets.
