GWS star Steven Johnson and Bulldogs midfielder Luke Dahlhaus have been cut down by injury.

Star Western Bulldogs midfielder Luke Dahlhaus will spend the next three weeks in a knee brace after scans revealed he damaged his medial ligament.

Dahlhaus injured his left knee during the first quarter of last week's three-point win against Port Adelaide, with the 23-year-old set to miss at least a month of AFL action - starting with Saturday night's top-four showdown against Geelong.

Bulldogs football manager Graham Lowe said an update on Dahlhaus's return will be made once the knee brace is removed.

All-Australian defender Easton Wood is expected to miss at least another week with ongoing hamstring issues.

Dahlhaus and Wood join Jason Johannisen (hamstring) and Robert Murphy (knee) on the sidelines during a crucial part of the season.

Geelong also have an injury concern heading into Saturday night's match, with in-form forward Daniel Menzel no certainty to play.

The artificial turf at Etihad Stadium is set to go under the spotlight after scans confirmed Menzel had suffered a ligament sprain.

Menzel suffered the injury when his foot appeared to get caught where the grass meets the fake turf along the boundary during Saturday's 31-point win over North Melbourne.

Menzel, who has undergone four knee reconstructions, will be assessed later in the week before a final call on his availability is made.

Meanwhile, star GWS forward Steve Johnson is set to miss the next fortnight because of a sore foot.

Giants coach Leon Cameron said Johnson had been carrying the issue for several weeks.

Johnson will definitely miss Sunday's clash with Essendon at Etihad Stadium, and he might also be absent for the round-14 home clash with Carlton.

With the Giants having the bye in round 15, Johnson might not be seen again until their July 9 clash with Collingwood at Spotless Stadium.

GWS sit in sixth spot following their 8-4 start to the year, and they'll start as hot favourites against both Essendon and Carlton despite the absence of Johnson.
