A classical musician who survived the Haiti earthquake has been presented with a new keyboard thanks to US performer Stevie Wonder.
For nearly 18 hours Romel Joseph, a legally blind music instructor, was buried under rubble of his school in Haiti's capital, Port Au Prince.
He says he managed to keep healthy and upbeat by reliving every musical piece he performed.
"I thought my time was up under the ground. And God says, no. You have things to do", he says.
Mr Joseph hinted to hospital staff and journalists he wanted a keyboard to help strengthen the fingers in his hands so that someday he could again play the violin.
US performer Stevie Wonder learned of Mr Joseph's ordeal and insisted on helping by sending him a new keyboard.
"What better way to express God's love than to give something that is special to you to somebody else who is in need. That's why I did it", he says.
Mr Joseph, who is expected to leave the hospital in the next few weeks, says he'd like nothing more than to play a duet concert with Stevie Wonder.
"I would really like to thank him, Stevie Wonder, for his generosity. I'll be practicing on the keyboard every day to keep my fingers going," said Romel.
