Sth Africa's Steyn won't bowl in tour game

South African pacemen Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada have been rested from the final day of the tour match against a South Australian XI in Adelaide.

South African pace ace Dale Steyn has been wrapped in cotton wool ahead of the three-Test series against Australia starting next week.

The 33-year-old fast bowler won't bowl on the second and final day of the tour match against a South Australian XI in Adelaide on Friday.

Steyn and tearaway quick Kagiso Rabada will sit out in the Proteas' last game before the Test series starts next Thursday in Perth.

A South African team spokeswoman said the pace duo had been rested.

Both bowlers will enter the Perth Test with just six overs under the belts on this tour, against a Cricket Australia XI last weekend in Adelaide.

Steyn took 2-9 in the pink-ball match and Rabada 2-28.

Steyn missed Test matches, one-dayers and Twenty20 matches against England last year because of a shoulder strain but returned to action in February.

The 33-year-old played against New Zealand in South Africa's home Test series in August-September and also played in four of the five limited overs internationals against Australia earlier this month.
