An ultra-rare and pristine copy of Action Comic's first ever edition, in which Superman features, has gone under the hammer and is expected to fetch a record-breaking $1.5m or more.
The stolen copy, which was purchased out of a storage locker, has been given a 9.0 condition rating – making it the highest rated copy known to exist.
In March 2010 an 8.5 condition copy was auctioned off for $1.5m, a sign that makes auctioneers confident the latest copy will sell for more.

“As soon as we saw the image we recognised it as being the copy that was stolen because it has three very distinct printing defects that are unique to this book alone,” COO of Comicconnect.com, Vincent Zurzolo said.
“People are not just collecting the comic book or the collectable item . . . they like the story behind it. For instance, with this book being a recovered stolen book.”
