Storm beat Eels in qualifying final

Melbourne Storm have narrowly beaten Parramatta 18-16 in an NRL qualifying final.

MELBOURNE-PARRAMATTA NRL QUALIFYING FINAL:

* Result: Melbourne bt Parramatta 18-16 at AAMI Park

* Key moment: After being outplayed in the first half, the Storm drew level in the 49th minute with a remarkable team try finished off by Kenny Bromwich after eight offloads.

* Key quote: "I just thought it was really important for us as a club that we get a win for Cameron on this day. That would have been a real downer if we hadn't," said Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy on the day when skipper Cameron Smith broke the NRL games record.

* Judiciary watch: Daniel Alvaro (Eels) on report for striking. Manu Ma'u (Eels) on report for a dangerous tackle.

* Injuries: Melbourne: Nil. Parramatta: Tepai Moeroa (concussion).

* What's next: The Storm get a week off to prepare for a home preliminary final against one of Brisbane, Manly or Penrith. The Eels take on either Cronulla or North Queensland in a cut-throat semi-final next weekend.
