The threat from a severe thunderstorm forecast to hit Sydney has passed but large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rain will likely hammer areas in northern and central western NSW.
The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled one severe thunderstorm warning issued on Monday afternoon but advises that another storm could bring heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding around Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree, Armidale, Orange, Tamworth, Moree, Walgett, Dubbo and Lightning Ridge.
About 30mm is expected to hit these areas in about half-an-hour of rainfall, a BOM spokesman said.
"The storms are relatively quick moving," he said.
Some hail fell at Marrickville, in Sydney inner-west, on Monday afternoon and winds were recorded gusting at up 95km/h at Kurnell in the city's south but much of the predicted bad weather never arrived.

Short bursts of rain dumped about 10mm on parts of the Central Tablelands on the eastern Hunter region.
The SES had received 88 calls for help across NSW on Monday, a spokesman said.
Most calls were for assistance with roofs or trees damaged in heavy winds in Sydney's north and south.
There's a 90 per cent chance of showers around Sydney on Monday evening and Tuesday is expected to be cloudy with a medium chance of showers with weather predicted to improve later in the week.
A severe thunderstorm is expected to hit northern NSW on Tuesday, the BOM spokesman said.
