A severe thunderstorm warning for areas of southeast Queensland has been cancelled, but forecasters say other cells could intensify on Friday afternoon.
The warning was issued for the Logan and Scenic Rim regions before the Bureau of Meteorology downgraded its advice in less than an hour.
A storm is considered severe if there is the possibility of heavy rain or hailstones larger than 2cm.
Forecaster James Thompson said about 50mm of rain had fallen at Beaudesert, while other storms in the region could exceed that because they were moving slowly.
"Most of the activity is around Boonah and Warwick - even further west into Toowoomba - but it's hard to say which of those cells will become severe," he said.
"It could be anywhere in the southeast, really."
There would also be the chance of storms on Saturday in the southeast. Forecasters were not expecting them to become severe, however.
