The cause of her sore wrist may still be a mystery but Sam Stosur is certain of one thing - her Australian Open preparation won't be interrupted.
Stosur said she would undergo scans on Wednesday on her right wrist that was heavily strapped in her Brisbane International second round loss to world No.13 Carla Suarez Navarro.
However, the former US Open champ did not appear fazed by the untimely injury after succumbing in three sets to the Spanish sixth seed at Pat Rafter Arena.
"At the moment we just think it's inflammation, maybe the tendon," world No.27 Stosur said.
"But I didn't hit any particular shot where I went 'ow' so I think that's a good sign that I haven't done something acutely."
Stosur admitted she may have to change her approach to her final Australian Open warm-up tournament in Sydney but was not expecting any setbacks.
"I'll kind of reassess and I guess put together a bit of a plan as far as my training up until my first round in Sydney," she said.
"It was a little bit sore on certain shots but overall it was pretty good.
"I've got days now to take care of it.
"Hopefully, considering I was able to go out there and play the way I did, it's not going to be too crazy."
Stosur has failed to advance past the Brisbane second round in six attempts but still thought she got what she needed after the epic two hour 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 loss.
Indeed Stosur showed plenty of fight coming back from a set and 4-1 down in the second to push former world No.8 Suarez Navarro.
It was an encouraging sign after her head space had been questioned following past early exits ahead of her home grand slam.
Especially after Stosur had slumped to world No.27 in 2015 - her worst year-end ranking since 2008.
"There is nothing to be ashamed of in that," Stosur said of her second round display.
Suarez Navarro will play the winner of Wednesday's second round clash between new top seed Garbine Muguruza of Spain and American Varvara Lepchenko.
World No.3 Muguruza was gifted top spot in the draw after Romania's Simona Halep (Achilles) withdrew on the same day as defending champion Maria Sharapova (forearm).
Two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka on Wednesday takes on Halep's replacement, Belgian lucky loser Ysaline Bonaventure, in the second round.
