Travellers heading overseas on Friday should arrive at the airport early because striking workers could cause delays.

Border Force staff who are union members are stopping work at international airports across the country from 8:30am as part of an ongoing pay dispute.

"We are working to minimise impact on business, the travelling public and on cargo and mail operations as much as possible," Border Force assistant commissioner Clive Murray said.
