Strong 6.6 earthquake strikes Micronesia

A strong 6.6 magnitude earthquake has hit Micronesia but there's no tsunami threat.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 struck has east-northeast of Yap in Micronesia.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat from the quake which hit on Friday.

The quake, initially measured with a magnitude of 6.8 by the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center but later scaled down, was at depth of 46km, the Hawaii-based PTWC said.
