A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 has struck off Canada's Vancouver island in the Pacific, the US Geological Survey says.
The quake, which hit at about 8.30pm on Wednesday (1310 AEST Thursday), was at a depth of 11.4km and 94km south of Port Hardy in Canada.
The US tsunami warning office in Palmer, Alaska said there was no tsunami danger for potentially affected areas: Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California.
