Former All Black Kieran Crowley has extended his long tenure as Canada national coach.
Rugby Canada announced Crowley would stay on for two more years through to the next Rugby World Cup qualifying round in August 2017.
A review committee recommended Crowley's contract be extended in the wake of their performance at the Rugby World Cup, despite Canada losing all four of their pool games, including a 17-15 upset loss to Romania.
"While Canada did not win any games at RWC 2015, the team's performance in a number of key areas improved significantly and this was validated in a technical analysis completed by World Rugby," said Jim Dixon, Rugby Canada's general manager of operations and performance.
Crowley, 54, says he is delighted to be reappointed, believing there is ample scope to improve the team's results and world ranking, which has slipped to 19th.
He says he and his family consider Canada home, having begun his role in 2008 after a decade-long stint coaching New Zealand club Taranaki.
Of leading rugby nations, only Warren Gatland has enjoyed a longer current head coaching stint than Crowley.
Former All Black Gatland took charge of Wales in late 2007.
