Hawthorn have overlooked free agent signing Ty Vickery for their AFL clash with West Coast at the MCG.

Vickery, who crossed from Richmond at the end of last season, struggled in his first three games for the Hawks before missing last week's 86-point loss to Geelong with back tightness.

The 26-year-old has recovered from the injury but hasn't been able to force his way back into the winless side, joining Kade Stewart and former Crow Ricky Henderson as emergencies for Sunday's game.

In the only change made by coach Alastair Clarkson, Daniel Howe is included at the expense of Henderson.

Former Hawks skipper Sam Mitchell (ankle) has lost his fitness battle to play against his old side, with West Coast regaining forward Jack Darling in their only change.

St Kilda host Geelong at Etihad Stadium in Sunday's other match, the Saints regaining Jack Steven from a punctured lung and recalling Billy Longer and Darren Minchington.

David Armitage departs with a groin injury, Jack Lonie has been dropped and Tom Hickey is rested.

Former North Melbourne forward Aaron Black will debut for the Cats, Darcy Lang has been recalled and George Horlin-Smith is back from a broken thumb.

Tom Ruggles has been cleared of concussion after a head clash with Hawks defender Josh Gibson but is named as an emergency.
