Ricky Stuart insists he hasn't considered making a return to State Of Origin coaching after the NSWRL revealed they would consider appointing a club coach.
The Canberra mentor's close friend Laurie Daley was axed as Blues coach on Friday, with Stuart branding the handling of his exit as disgraceful.
The NSWRL will consider appointing an NRL coach to lead NSW part-time after losing 11 series in 12 years.
But Stuart, whose first stint in charge of the Blues came while he was also coaching the Sydney Roosters, said making a comeback hadn't crossed his mind.
"I have not even though of it," Stuart told Fox Sports' NRL 360.
He returned to the role full-time in 2011 and 2012 after a review determined club coaches could not do both jobs.
"I don't believe in the rule that was put in place when I had my second go that you couldn't coach an NRL club," Stuart said.
While he didn't rule out taking the job again, Stuart said he was passionate about the Blues turning their diabolical record around.
"It's something that burns away at you because we're embarrassed by the results," Stuart said.
"Whether you're involved in it or not you're embarrassed by the results because it hurts.
"That's why there's so much angst and so much opinion comment on it because it's the best game of the year."
Stuart reiterated criticism of how Daley's sacking was handled.
"I'm not saying the decision was right or wrong, but I just feel as though we could have respected him more, the person himself, and what he's done for the jumper," Stuart said.
"As a player, a captain and also a coach, I think he deserves it."
