Students at a north Sydney primary school were starstruck and overjoyed after the Queen of Jordan took time out of her schedule to visit them.
Queen Rania Al Abdullah, who is visiting Australia with her husband King Abdullah II of Jordan, visited Fort Street Public School in Millers Point on Friday with NSW Premier Mike Baird's wife, Kerryn.
Students had spent weeks preparing for the royal visit, designing and creating keyrings and other items depicting the Jordanian colours and coat of arms as part of the school's student entrepreneurial project.
"They asked, what would the Queen like? So they started making Queen-special products," assistant principal Eric McCarron told AAP.
Some students made gifts of their projects to the Queen while others were jubilant when she bought items from their market stalls.
"Those kids who were visited were over the moon and the others who missed out were so forlorn - she didn't have time to visit them all," Mr McCarron said.
One particularly tech-savvy 11-year-old boy had designed and built a robotic puppy which could say "Welcome, Queen Rania".
"She was very friendly and very curious about what they were doing," Mr McCarron said.
Friday is the last day of the royals' three-day visit.
